Chaskaa is one small unit — 5D, opposite the bank — inside Madan Shopping Centre on The Broadway, and it does one thing: Punjabi chaat, made fresh to order. No curries, no thalis — just the street snacks: pani puri cracked open and filled while you watch, dahi bhalla under cool yoghurt and tamarind, samosa chaat, papri chaat, pav bhaji, and the house quirk that regulars cross London for, a burger stuffed with noodles.
Everything is vegetarian, prices sit between £5.50 and £7.50 a plate, and there is a handful of tables if you want to eat in. The numbers tell the story: 4.9 stars from over a thousand Google reviews, with one visitor writing that they had come from Germany for it. Reviewers name the owner, Ravi, again and again — friendly, welcoming, and clearly the heart of the place.
Walk in hungry, order two plates more than you planned, and finish with a mango lassi.
The three plates that come up in review after review — plus the board by the door, which regulars order from just as often.
Pani Puri £5.50
The headline act — crisp puris, spiced water, chickpeas and chutneys. Reviewers call it the best in the area, "half sweet and half spicy".
Dahi Bhalla £7.00
Feather-light lentil dumplings under whipped yoghurt, tamarind and a dusting of spice — the dish regulars name most.
Noodles Burger £7.00
Chaskaa's signature oddity: a soft bun packed with masala noodles. It sounds wrong; over a thousand reviewers say it is very right.
